Wallpaper Hell

Hope you had a good Memorial Weekend.  We spent it stripping wallpaper.  I had never stripped wallpaper before; only heard terrifying stories from others;  they are all true!

This was a multiple step process, and unfortunately, had to be done on the main floor living room, dining room, laundry room and foyer.  AND up the stairs and on the second floor hallway and borders in two bedrooms.   After much research and trial and error, here is what worked for us:

-#1 tip – peel as much of the outside lining of wall paper off as you can! (getting the top layer off helps tremendously for the next steps)

-Score wall paper with tool.

-Throughly wet the paper using Water and/or over the counter product like zinsser (you can mix this with water as well)
(make sure you give 10 minutes to soak, but don’t wait till it drys).  We rolled it on.

-Scrape off using non sharp scraper to remove glue and remaining paper.  They sell nice tools so you don’t gouge your walls.
*wearing latex gloves is a good idea.
*Most hardware stores carry all of this.  There are other products out there including easy to hold spray bottles but this is what altimately worked for us.
