Getting To Know The Neighborhood

We feel so lucky to have found this house. We spent a long time looking for a new house that fit our needs. Yes, it is a lot of work BUT we don’t mind getting our hands dirty to turn it into a real home that we are proud of.  We have been very busy working on it since moving in a few weeks a go but we are also making time to have some fun in it too!

This neighborhood is really unique because it is full of most homes situated in circles rather than streets that connect to other streets. And the houses have wonderful unique character. Shosh has been running through the neighborhood most mornings getting inspired by the way the neighbors have updated their yards, their front doors, garages, and mailboxes!

The hood was built in 1978 so there are fully grown trees, a lovely pool to walk to, a park for kids, and a trail that follows a creek.  We tried our hand at fishing but didn’t do very well, and ended up letting the worms go free 🙂  We have met a bunch of neighbors already and they have been sweet.  This one adorable gentleman walks by most days, and yells out ‘lookin’ good!’ to us.  We thank him for the positive vibes!

We do not have a kitchen yet but that has been our excuse to eat at a very good diner nearby! Its called East Penn Diner and their sandwiches and desserts have been amazing!  Sydney loves going because they have a claw machine that she has had good luck with!  She won a two dollar bill wrapped around a stuffed animal (her two favorite things to win!).

Downtown Emmaus, the town we now live in, has some fun shops to walk around and visit.  An adorable kids bookstore just opened up called Let’s Play Books! and I recommend it for all ages.  The owner is so friendly and they have lots of events!

From the book store you can walk to the old fashioned Emmaus movie theatre, then hit the other little cute shops right there; and of course down the street is Sweet Memories that has some delicous teas and desserts (make a reservation if want to sit and have a meal with friends).  There are other really great places to eat and chill out too!

And of course there is Wildlands Conservancy, the best kept secret in the LV (Lehigh Valley).  A great nature preserve with a creek to go tubing in.  They have a lot of activities and events for kids and adults.  Shosh and Sydney just spent the weekend camping there with other families.  We had a blast!

As we venture out more we will have more places and townies to talk about.

We also added a tire swing to the backyard the other day!
